Through Memory-Making Experiences, Friends of Karen’s critically-ill children and their families, living in Staten Island and Westchester County, will be offered the opportunity for an experience that he/she “always wanted to do.” The experience may take many forms from attending a Broadway show to going to the movies and lunch, to a picnic in the park – whatever the ill child and family chose. The mission of this program is to create memories and family experiences.
We’re thrilled to have the support of Basepoint Foundation. Thank you for partnering with us to create lasting memories for critically ill children and their families. I can already see the smiles!” -Judith Factor, Executive Director, Friends of Karen
About Friends of Karen
The vision of Friends of Karen is that every child with a life-threatening illness, and his or her family, will have all that they need to keep them stable, functioning and able to cope. Our mission is to provide emotional, financial and advocacy support for children with a life-threatening illness and their families in order to help keep them stable, functioning, and able to cope. We started in 1978 with one family; one child, Karen MacInnes; and one inspired woman, Sheila Petersen. Since then, we have assisted nearly 15,000 children and their families.
